Alastair Storey is a British businessman who is the chairman and chief executive of the catering and hospitality company, BaxterStorey. He was born in 1953 in Fyvie, United Kingdom. Storey began his career in the hospitality industry in the 1970s, working for the catering company, Trusthouse Forte. He then moved to the contract catering company, Gardner Merchant, where he worked for over 20 years, eventually becoming managing director. In 2001, Storey founded BaxterStorey, a contract catering company, with his business partner, Andrew Baxter. The company has since grown to become one of the largest contract catering companies in the UK, with over 10,000 employees. Storey is also the chairman of the British Hospitality Association, a trade association for the hospitality industry in the UK. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. Storey has been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of West London, and was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2011. He was educated at Robert Gordon's College in Aberdeen, followed by a bachelor's degree in hospitality and catering management at Strathclyde University, although he originally wanted to go to art school.
