Azam Farahi is a teacher and a scholar of Islamic studies. He is a professor at the University of Tehran and has written several books on Islamic studies. He is also a member of the Iranian Academy of Sciences. Farahi was born in Tehran in 1956. He received his bachelor's degree in Islamic studies from the University of Tehran in 1979 and his master's degree in Islamic studies from the same university in 1982. He then went on to receive his PhD in Islamic studies from the University of Tehran in 1988. Farahi has written several books on Islamic studies, including The Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence, The Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence: A Comparative Study, and The Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence: A Comparative Study of the Four Schools of Thought. He has also written several articles on Islamic studies, including "The Role of Islamic Law in the Modern World" and "The Role of Islamic Law in the Modern World: A Comparative Study of the Four Schools of Thought." Farahi is also a member of the Iranian Academy of Sciences and has been a visiting professor at several universities, including the University of Tehran, the University of Qom, and the University of Isfahan. He is also a member of the International Institute of Islamic Studies. Farahi is married and has two children.
