He then attended the University of Houston, where he was a two-time All-Conference USA selection. Hankton was selected by the New Orleans Hornets in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft. He has since played for the Hornets, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the New Orleans Pelicans. He has also played professionally in the NBA Development League, the Philippines, and China. Hankton is married to his wife, Tia, and they have two children. He is an active member of his community, and he is involved in several charities and organizations. He is also a member of the National Basketball Players Association.
