He is best known for his roles in the television series The Sullivans, The Young Doctors, and The Flying Doctors. Barnett was born in Cremorne, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 27 September 1931. He attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney and graduated in 1954. Barnett has appeared in numerous television shows and films, including The Sullivans, The Young Doctors, The Flying Doctors, The Man from Snowy River, and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. He has also appeared in the films The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, The Odd Angry Shot, and The Year My Voice Broke. Barnett has been married twice, first to actress and singer June Salter, and then to actress and singer Judy Nunn. He has two children, a son and a daughter. Barnett is currently retired and living in Sydney. He is 90 years old.
