Jorge González is a Chilean singer, songwriter, and actor. He is best known as the lead singer of the rock band Los Prisioneros, which he formed in 1982 with Claudio Narea and Miguel Tapia. He has also released several solo albums, acted in films, and composed soundtracks for films and television. González was born in Santiago, Chile, on December 6, 1964. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and formed Los Prisioneros in 1982. The band released their first album, La Voz de los '80, in 1983. The album was a success and the band went on to become one of the most popular rock bands in Chile. González released his first solo album, El Amor es un Juego, in 1989. He has since released several more solo albums, including El Amor es un Juego II (1991), El Amor es un Juego III (1993), and El Amor es un Juego IV (1995). González has also acted in several films, including El Chacal de Nahueltoro (1989), La Fiebre del Oro (1991), and El Chacotero Sentimental (1999). He has also composed soundtracks for films and television, including the soundtrack for the Chilean television series Los Archivos del Cardenal (1998). González has won several awards, including the Chilean National Music Award (1995) and the Latin Grammy Award for Best Rock Album (2003). He was also inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.
