Melanie Sutherland is an American actress best known for her roles in the films The Stepford Wives (1975), The Bad News Bears (1976), and The Last American Virgin (1982). She was born on April 15, 1956 in Los Angeles, California. Sutherland began her career as a child actress, appearing in television commercials and guest-starring on television shows such as The Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch. She made her feature film debut in the 1975 comedy The Stepford Wives, playing the role of the rebellious daughter of Katharine Ross' character. In 1976, Sutherland starred in the comedy The Bad News Bears, playing the role of Amanda Whurlitzer, the daughter of Walter Matthau's character. She also appeared in the 1982 comedy The Last American Virgin, playing the role of the girlfriend of Gary (Lawrence Monoson). Sutherland has also appeared in numerous television shows, including The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and The A-Team. She has also appeared in the films The Great Bank Hoax (1978) and The Big Red One (1980). Sutherland is currently married to actor and director Robert Hays. The couple has two children.
